About Brave Little Lungs
In August 2015, just days after marrying her husband, Henry, my dear friend Mackenzie was diagnosed with a terminal lung disease. Before her diagnosis, Mackenzie loved to dance, sing, and dreamed of becoming a talk show hostess. Now she counts every breath, measures every step, and can no longer sing, but she has remained one of the happiest and most positive people I have ever know. Her smile and laughter are contagious and she lights up the room with her kindness and humor. Though this trial seems so unfair, Mackenzie and Henry have united communities and encouraged all of us to live with more purpose, love without restraint, and cherish every breath we take.
Because of her disease, Mackenzie and Henry have had to relocate to San Francisco to be close to medical specialist that can help her. They are also anxiously waiting to be put on the lung transplant list. They have had and will continue to have a lot of unforeseen expenses as well as plenty of medical bills. My heart goes out to them. I got married just six weeks before they did, and I can’t imagine going through such a life-threatening trial. In an effort to help support Mackenzie and Henry, I have decided to have a special fundraiser. Order Cooking Through College for $15.99 and donate 20% of the purchase to Brave Little Lungs! Please help support Mackenzie and Henry! They have enough stress already. Let’s help them not have financial stress. Follow Mackenzie Unga on her Brave Little Lungs' journey here. |
